IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals – a unique guide that identifies the top patent professionals in key jurisdictions around the globe. Patents are essential business commodities and knowing how to obtain, enforce and monetise them has become mission critical for companies in all industries. Private practitioners play a key role in developing and implementing patent strategies for clients in both local and global markets, as well as acting to protect clients’ rights in the event of infringement. The IAM Patent 1000 shines a spotlight on the firms and individuals that are deemed outstanding in this pivotal area of practice.

Top 1000 guide has been compiled following an extensive research process. Over five months, IAM conducted in the region of 1,800 interviews with numerous attorneys at law, patent attorneys and in-house counsel to gather market intelligence on the leading players in the field. Individuals qualify for a listing in the IAM Patent 1000 when they receive sufficient positive feedback from peers and clients with knowledge of their practice and the market within which they operate. In those markets in which practitioners have narrowed the focus of their work, we have presented tables highlighting the leaders in the respective areas of prosecution, transactions and litigation. Only those individuals identified by market sources for their exceptional skill sets and profound insights into patent matters feature in the IAM Patent 1000.

Also, Alder IP is the proud winner of a Client Choice Award 2015 for the best patent firm in Australia as voted by our clients and reported by Lexology. Client Choice recognises 414 winners across 68 jurisdictions worldwide. Client Choice also recognises winners at state and province level in the United States and Canada. This year, 187 winners across 37 US states and four Canadian provinces have been recognised. ILO and Lexology’s research begins with a readership survey of International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology in-house counsel subscribers. Clients are asked to rate individual lawyers and law firms on the following client service criteria: quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, response time, sharing of expertise and use of technology. To ensure that the results cannot be influenced, law firms are not informed when this initial round of research is conducted. The results of this survey are used to draw up shortlists for each work area. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to submit up to five referees. The research team conducts follow-up interviews and additional research where necessary. While based on thorough and coherent research, the results remain the subjective views of the Client Choice team.
